Big money special interests are dominating our state's political agenda. Politicians are selling out to the highest bidder, from the tobacco industry to the insurance lobby. We see our educational system, health care and the environment, the quality of life for ourselves and our families declining, while public policy is dominated by lobbyists, corporate interests and foreign money.

In initiative after initiative, poll after poll, election after election, California voters have cast their ballots overwhelmingly for political reform.

From term limits, to campaign finance reform and the open primary, Californians have taken a clear position: we want more democracy and accountability and we want to reign in the power of the Democratic and Republican parties.

After each reform initiative is passed by the California voters, the career politicians and elected officials of the two major political parties use their money, influence and position to try to overturn these reforms. Most recently the Democratic and Republican parties actually sued the voters of this state to have term limits, campaign finance reform and the open primary initiatives overturned. Never before in the history of California have the two major parties so directly and blatantly opposed the will of the voters.
